Save The Rat Bike Community

"I believe that it is the capability to appeciate the beauty in everything that has a story behind it and proudly shows the signs of time."

What Does Save The Rat Bike Mean?

Everyone is welcome to have their own point of view. For me is the capability to appeciate the beauty in everything that has a story behind it and proudly shows the signs of time.

Any kind of bike can be part of it : old school mtb, commuter, track, tracklocross and any kind of fixedgear bike, road, ciclocross, singlespeed, cargo, DIY, touring, frankestein bike, etc… Used frames, rust, scratches, dents, uncovered welds, stickers, dust, dirt… but not only, the state of use isn’t important, we are talking about something deeper and poetic: a story!

Save The Rat Bike was born in the form of stickers in Stockholm. During that time, I was following galleries on some forums that touched on that theme and precise aesthetic (Fixedforum and LFGSS). Intrigued by the "emblem" that represented it, I discussed it with the guy from Stockholm who was one of the first to use it, explaining my desire to create a reference channel that collected and shared photos from all lovers of the genre worldwide and make this motto an official symbol of a community. He really liked the idea and gave his approval. From there, the Instagram channel was born, which grew enormously. It was incredible and inspired many people. Even today, I receive messages of thanks from enthusiasts. In recent years, it has become a hashtag that has spread enormously on the internet, also thanks to my Instagram channel @save.the.rat.bike, and it has further evolved into becoming the symbol of a community of people from all over the world who share a love for cycling.

Subsequently, the first Save The Rat Bike book was also born, where I wanted to interview enthusiasts who shared this passion. Hopefully, there will be more books like this in the future.
